Tribute to Robert Yetman, MD

Robert will be always remembered by me and my colleagues in the Pediatric Gastroenterology group.  He was "larger than life."  Here a just a few of hundreds of Rbt vignettes.

1. Whenever he was asked "How're you doing?" he would say "Overpaid and Underworked!"

2.  He helped us in Pediatric GI through every major change we underwent in the past 19 years:  for example, helped us learn and develop Epic, helped us settle into a new clinic location, helped us with ER pathways and policies, and helped us with faculty and clinical staff recruitment over many years.

3.  When new faculty arrived, for years Robert would masterfully orient them by elucidating every detail that was requested.  This included any question relevant to duty hours and vacation, benefits, travel issues, malpractice insurance, health insurance, sick leave, retirement, and "you name it."  His knowledge of how UT and also CMHH works was encyclopedic, and he cheerfully helped all of us whenever a question came up.

4.  He helped me personally (and Nicole Fatheree, study coordinator) by asking me to present my research projects that were relevant to Community Pediatrics at their monthly meetings.  That helped us enroll enough babies with colic and older kids with autism to study the effects of probiotics.

5.  Robt always answered emails and phone calls promptly.  This applied to any time of day or night.  If there was no answer, he'd say "stay tuned for updates"   ...rbt.
